What is Abhyanga Sneha?
Abhyanga (Sanskrit: अभ्यंग "oil massage") is a form of Ayurvedic medicine that involves massage of the body with warm oil. Sneha means Love. Abhyanga Snehana is a Self Care Oil Massage that can be done as part of a stress-relieving therapy. Through this therapeutic massage you will experience a profound sense of calm and connection to your inner being.
In this experiential workshop, you will learn through practice:

Bring a sleeveless shirt, shorts or pants that can be rolled-up, socks and a medium-large size towel that you won’t mind getting a bit oily. Maritza will provide the oils, cups and paper towels for each participant. Participants will also receive a written summary of the workshop plus suggested guidelines on how to continue the practice at home. The workshop includes presentation and discussion, along with a full Abhyanga practice.

Join us for a two-hour workshop from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m. on Friday, July 19, that's designed for absolute beginners or newish Nia-lovers who want to find out more about the practice.

What to expect: In the first hour we'll discuss and move through the basic concepts and principles of Nia. Then, experience a beginner-level Nia class that puts it all together.
In Nia classes, we start from a place of pleasure and feeling good. We dance, we kick, we execute punches and blocks, and we laugh -- a lot. In doing this, we become more connected to our flexibility, strength and mobility, increasing our level of agility and improving our sense of stability. With regular practice, you'll experience an increase in stamina and have more energy.

This love-filled workshop, led by the extraordinary Susan Tate, includes discussion, presentation, inquiry, mindfulness, and a specially choreographed Nia routine. We will explore easy ways to create mind-body balance aimed at reducing your stress, increasing your energy, and amplifying your resilience. You will also discover 20 tips that can bring you more balance, energy, peace, pleasure, and well-being.
No prior Nia experience needed.

A licensed black belt Nia teacher, a member of the Nia Moving to Heal master teaching faculty, and Nia 5 Stages of Self-Healing teacher, Susan completed all of her Nia intensive training with The Nia Technique co-creators Debbie Rosas and Carlos AyaRosas and has taught thousands of classes since she began teaching Nia in 1999. As an author, Nia teacher, heart-centered life coach, wedding officiant, and speaker, Susan is passionate about creating and inspiring individual, community, and global wellness.
