Staying Healthy: What Move2Center Does and What You Can Do

Picture
Since the day we opened, cleanliness has been a practice that we take very seriously at Move2Center. We consider our studio to be a place of healing, health and sanctuary, and we want our students to trust our dedication to that philosophy.

This understanding is particularly important as new developments about the cold and flu season and the novel coronavirus COVID-19 continue to emerge. Since several students have asked about what precautions we've taken and continue to take, here's a list of our studio's cleaning protocols. (Please note: We are updating this list as new information emerges.)

  • We deep clean our studio, including wiping down all the bathroom surfaces, vacuuming and wiping down all the surfaces in the studio and our entryway, regularly each week. We also clean bathroom surfaces, faucet handles, sinks and other high-traffic areas of the studio  between classes, as well as wiping down our pens.
  • We do not allow street shoes on our dance floor.
  • We dry and wet mop our dance floor after every class, and as we wet mop we use a custom-mixed cleaning spray that includes germ-inhibiting, anti-fungal and antiseptic ingredients that are natural and non-toxic.
  • We change and wash our mop heads regularly.
  • In light of the current situation we are offering disposable paper cups for water instead of our usual plastic cups.
  • In light of the current situation we're also wiping down all door knobs, handles and pulls each day after classes with Clorox or Lysol wipes.
  • We are temporarily suspending our hot towel service.
  • We're also limiting our class sizes to no more than 10 students in order to be in compliance with safe distancing rules.
  • We and our partners at Boom Studios wipe down the cubbies and other surfaces in the studio's high-use common areas multiple times each week.

What You Can Do

According to the CDC the best measures for preventing the spread of germs that cause respiratory illness are easily adopted by each of us.
  • Topmost: If you are not feeling well, please stay home.  We love dancing with you! But we also love you staying healthy and helping us to stay healthy.  We'll be here when you're back at 100 percent.
  • Before and after each class, please take a moment to wash your hands. The CDC recommends soaping up for 20 seconds before rinsing.
  • Please bring your own water bottle and yoga mat to the studio to use during class.
  • Please bring your own pen to sign in to class. We have pens available if you don't have one, but if you do please use it.
  • Need a new pass? Please consider purchasing online. You can do that here.
  • Please observe the new social distancing rules: By law we have to maintain a distance of six feet between one another.  This is doable: We have very small classes and are limiting our class sizes to no more larger than 10 for the time being.
  • Need to cough or sneeze? It happens even for healthy people! But if one sneaks up on you,  please cover your nose and mouth with a tissue and dispose of the tissue in a garbage receptacle immediately.
  • As much as possible, please refrain from touching your face, eyes and mouth. We do sweat when we dance -- which is essential for staying healthy! -- so if you need to wipe your face during class, use a towel. If you need a dry towel ask one of us, we're happy to provide a clean one for you to use that we'll sanitize after your class.
  • If you use one of our yoga mats, please clean it after class with the Clorox wipes provided at the studio. You can also bring your own mat from home, as mentioned above.
  • Keep that cell phone clean! Germs love to gather there.  So each day, wipe it down at home with a disinfectant wipe or alcohol.
  • Lastly...don't stop moving! Research shows that regular exercise strengthens the immune system.
