Staying Healthy: What Move2Center Does and What You Can Do

3/2/2020

Since the day we opened, cleanliness has been a practice that we take very seriously at Move2Center. We consider our studio to be a place of healing, health and sanctuary, and we want our students to trust our dedication to that philosophy.

This understanding is particularly important as new developments about the cold and flu season and the novel coronavirus COVID-19 continue to emerge. Since several students have asked about what precautions we've taken and continue to take, here's a list of our studio's cleaning protocols. (Please note: This list was last updated on July 6, 2021.)

  • We deep clean our studio, including wiping down all the bathroom surfaces, vacuuming and wiping down all the surfaces in the studio and our entryway, regularly each week.
  • We also clean bathroom surfaces, faucet handles, sinks, door knobs, handles and pulls and other high-touch areas of the studio using virucidal, EPA-approved cleaners, including Lysol or Clorox disinfectant wipes.
  • We do not allow street shoes on our dance floor.
  • We dry and wet mop our dance floor after every class.
  • We change and wash our mop heads regularly.
  • In light of the current situation we are offering disposable paper cups for water instead of our usual plastic cups.
  • We're also limiting our in-person class sizes to no more than six students in order to be in compliance with safe distancing rules.
  • We also offer classes over Zoom.

What You Can Do

According to the CDC the best measures for preventing the spread of germs that cause respiratory illness are easily adopted by each of us.
  • If you are not feeling well, please stay home.  We love dancing with you! But we also love you staying healthy and helping us to stay healthy.  We'll be here when you're back at 100 percent.
  • Before and after each class, please take a moment to wash your hands. The CDC recommends soaping up for 20 seconds before rinsing.
  • Please bring your own water bottle, towel and yoga mat to the studio to use during class.
  • Need a new pass? Please purchase it online prior to joining us in the studio. You can do that here.
  • Please give each other space.  This is doable: We have very small classes and are limiting our class sizes to no larger than six in person for the time being.
  • Keep that cell phone clean! Germs love to gather there.  So each day, wipe it down at home with a disinfectant wipe or alcohol.
  • Lastly...don't stop moving! Research shows that regular exercise strengthens the immune system.
