Our studio contains a lot of lovely objects. Some of them are just artwork. Some are spiritual icons that were gifted to us. Nothing within the space is presented without reverence for its meaning, especially objects that hold religious significance.
That brings me to the statuette of the Nataraja, displayed by our door as you enter. The Nataraja depicts the Hindu god Shiva as the divine cosmic dancer, representing the cycle of creation, preservation, and dissolution. I’ve been thinking about it a lot as I prepare to say goodbye to the container that lovingly held our community for six years and eight months. Move2Center is now in its period of dissolution – meaning, it will shut down permanently at the end of August. All Nia classes will continue as usual through August 28. However, here are some dates you won’t want to miss… Our big send-off celebration will be on Saturday, August 24 at 10:30 am. But! That is not the very last dance. I’ll still be holding class as usual on Sunday, August 25 at 10:30 am, and on Monday, August 26 at 6:30 pm. Wednesday, August 28 at 6:30 pm will be our very last Nia class. Now the business part: Please use your unexpired Move2Center class punches by August 28, as they will not transfer to the new occupant of the space or to any future movement classes that I may teach. Also note that our three for $30 deal is no longer in effect. However, any unexpired punches on previously purchased three for $30 passes will be honored. Here’s the fun part: Knowing that this is our last month has made each class really fun and creative. If you have a request for a routine or playlist let me know. If you’re reading this email on the day that I sent it out, you’ll have at least 14 more opportunities to dance in the space or online with us. I hope that you’ll join me for a last dance or two – or many! Move2Center was never about just one person or a handful. We are a community, and that is a kind of energy. And energy can never be destroyed, only transformed or transferred to something new. Keep dancing…Melanie
